Looking for FT Workers’ Compensation Paralegal

Responsibilities:
Assists and supports counsel on legal matters related to Workers’ Compensation (WC). Drafts motions and correspondence to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) and Industrial Commission (IC). Works with Third Party Administrator (TPA). Drafts correspondence to attorneys, claim parties and BWC/IC. Drafts affidavits. Compiles documents and data from various sources in anticipation of hearings and litigation. Tracks open litigation and settlements. Uses legal matter management database to track matters pending before the administrative agencies and courts. Attends hearings, depositions and trials on behalf of client at direction of attorney. Reviews and summarizes medical, benefit and work history information.

Daily Tasks:
Updates and manages matters in legal matter management database. Updates and maintains settlement and litigation tracking tools. Drafts affidavits, motions and correspondence. Communicates with outside parties, including TPA, courts, administrative agencies and attorneys. Communicates and attends meetings with internal clients. Creates, organizes and maintains files in anticipation of hearings and litigation. Gathers and summarizes data from various sources in anticipation of hearing and litigation. Attends hearings, depositions and trials to support attorney.

Experience:
Minimum of three years experience as a Workers’ Compensation Paralegal in a corporate legal department, law firm or government agency.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of Ohio WC administrative process and systems. Knowledge of Ohio WC litigation process and pleadings. Familiarity with medical terminology.
